Keri Ann & Matt met in 2010 when they started medical school at The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, PA. They officially started dating on after they began hanging out when they were both randomly assigned to the same research group. As medical school went on they eventually moved in together, adopted a dog, and finally “couples matched” together at the University of Virginia for their residencies. Within a week of moving to Charlottesville, Keri Ann and Matt got engaged (on a night that was almost a failure due to the stress of moving furniture all day with our families followed by a 2 hour wait at Citizen Burger)!
What was your favorite part of your wedding day? what was your most memorable moment?
“Our favorite part of the wedding day was the dancing! We never wanted the party to end as we danced the night away with our closest family and friends. The most memorable moment, however, was before the ceremony when we were reading the letters we wrote to each other. We stood around the corner so that we couldn’t see each other, but we were able to share the emotion of a private moment just for us before the madness of the day.”
Share what your inspiration was for your wedding.
“We wanted to have an indoor Halloween wedding that would capture the fun spirit of Keri’s favorite holiday while still being classy, romantic, and traditional. We opted for a classic black and white color scheme with a touch of blush and lace to give it a vintage feel.”
What’s next now that you are married?
“We took a short trip – a “mini-moon” – to San Francisco to see Alcatraz, the Winchester Mystery House, and the Golden Gate Bridge, but we are hoping to go to Thailand (where some of Matt’s family is from) in early 2017 as a full honeymoon. We will be in Charlottesville for a couple more years completing residency, and then we will see where life takes us!”
Now that you are married, what words of advice do you have for couples getting married?
“Everyone will tell you that the day goes by so quickly that you don’t even get time to enjoy it all, and they are correct. Try to leave some extra time in your schedule that day between all the activities so that you can take some time to breathe and just soak in what’s going on around you; enjoy some quiet moments together because that’s what you’ll remember most. Also, despite all the hard work and planning that goes into it, no wedding goes perfectly, so when something inevitably goes wrong just remind yourself that all that really matters is that you are now married to the love of your life.”
