Boudoir F.A.Qs

WHERE DOES THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?

Your session can be held at either a location of your choice or at my home studio. Often times, clients have chosen places they feel comfortable such as their home, or a friend's. Hotels, AirBNBs, and other locations are also viable options. All location costs are paid for by the client and travel charges may apply. While choosing location, keep in mind the look you are going for to help in bringing your vision to life.

HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION LAST?

From start to finish, the session lasts roughly three hours. One for hair and make up, and around two for the shoot. Additional time may be included for travel depending on location chosen.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE MY OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP?

This is client's choice! Whether you'd prefer to do your own or you'd like to have hair and/or makeup done by a professional prior to your session is up to you. I do work with several skilled hair and makeup artists that are happy to aide in creating the perfect look. If you go with the latter option, I just ask to know time of booking to ensure no scheduling conflicts. Professional hair and makeup begins at $175.

DO I BRING MY OWN CLOTHES AND PROPS OR DO YOU PROVIDE THEM?

Due to the private nature of boudoir sessions, it is up to the client to provide their own wardrobe and props. With that being said, we do offer a lingerie/wardrobe consultation service. Done by a woman for women, this resource helps you in choosing the pieces to best suite your style and the look you are going for. Consultation services start at $100.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND ALONG?

Absolutely! It is very common to be filled with nerves and excitement before your first boudoir session. Having a friend with you to make you feel more comfortable, keep the mood light, and who can get you to laugh/ bring out your personality is a great idea!

WHAT IF I WANT TO KEEP MY PICTURES PRIVATE?

Whether this was booked as a gift for someone or just for yourself, this is YOUR session. The images will be available for your viewing in a password protected gallery and you will receive a release form to fill out after. This form will give me specific instructions on if the images are to remain private or how any images may be used/shared on my end (website/social media). Whatever you choose, it is up to you and I completely understand and respect your choice.

HOW ARE PHOTOS CHOSEN FOR MY ALBUM/PRINTS?

You may choose to view your photos privately on the password protected gallery or we can schedule a time to go through the images together. When possible, I prefer to view them together since I can show you side by side comparisons, compare black and white versus color, and can give my professional opinon on what images may work together in an album. You can then review and decide what images you would like to be in the album/prints.

Boudoir Preparation

In order to be prepared for your session, I have compiled a list of helpful hints and tips! If there is anything you are unsure of that was not covered, please do not hesitate to ask!

Before Your Session

  • Exfoliate your face and body
  • Consider how your fingernails and toenails look. It's not necessary to get a manicure or pedicure, but make sure everything is neat and clean. If you prefer no color, a clear polish is recommended
  • Get your eyebrows done
  • Shave/wax - You'll want to wax at least a day or two before your session to avoid red or irritated skin
  • Drink plenty of water the days before to help hydrate your skin, give it a glow, and allow your makeup to go on smoother
  • Avoid over exposure to the sun in the days before your session. While a sun-kissed look is often pleasing, it won’t be in your photos. Notes on spray tanning~ If you have never spray tanned before, or experience uneven results, please do a trial run before your session
  • Make sure you do not have swimsuit tan lines (unless intentionally part of your look)
  • Cut tags from see-through lingerie
  • Practice posing and facial expressions in front of a mirror. Look at magazines or websites to familiarize yourself with some basic poses. I can give instructions and guidance, but it always helps to be prepared with a few poses and ideas of your own.

Day Of Session

  • Unless doing your own makeup - arrive with clean, moisturized, and makeup-less skin
  • Wear loose clothing the day of your session. Tight (or even form-fitting) clothing will leave marks on your body and we want your skin to be as smooth and flawless as possible
  • Brush your lips with a toothbrush to remove dry skin
  • Moisture your skin with body lotion
  • Drink plenty of water the day of. You might even consider exfoliating (gently!) a few days prior to your session and moisturize before getting dressed on the day of.
  • Be sure to eat before your session. Not a huge meal, but the session will take a while and you'll need your energy to hold some of those poses, so eat at least a light meal. And feel free to bring snacks with you (that won't mess with your makeup).
  • Don't use white deodorant do of -- the color, even if not very noticible in person, is visible in the images

Things To Bring

  • Your outfits/ lingerie - I typically suggest bringing 5-6 different outfits. We do not need to shoot them all but this way you have options to choose from.
  • Accessories: Jewelry, shoes, stockings, something of theirs, etc.
  • Feel free to bring your own music on an ipod. If you do not have your own music I will happily provide it.
