Jabeen & Isaac Married at the Frontier Culture Museum | Staunton Wedding Photography

Jabeen & Isaac

The wedding of Jabeen & Isaac at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, Va.

The Couples Love Story:

Isaac’s friend was interested in Jabeen and one night he asked Isaac to go with him to meet up with Jabeen and some of her friends. Isaac ended up taking a seat next to her and according to Isaac, “utterly failed” his duties to his friend. The couple hit it off immediately and have rarely spent a day apart since. “What can I say?” Jabeen said. “I fell for the wingman.”

Wedding Inspiration:

We didn’t really plan with a style in mind but just kind of gravitated towards a very romantic, old Europe feel, like being in an English garden or the English countryside. With the storms we got that day, we certainly got some English weather! But most importantly, we wanted our wedding to reflect the things we care about, like our respect for animals. The hors d’oeuvres for the cocktail hour, the dinner and the cupcakes were all vegan. Everything was hearty and so delicious. The meat-eaters kept telling us it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding!

The Couple’s favorite/ most memorable part of the day:

It poured buckets as soon as the outdoor ceremony site was set. Miraculously, the sun peeked out just in time for guests to arrive. So they got a little bit of everything that day–dark, dramatic storm clouds, blue skies, a beautiful sunset.

Bride: “At the ceremony when my father and I reached the edge of the aisle and everyone stood up for us. You get so caught up in the details of planning a wedding…that moment was when it all hit me. And the way Isaac looked at me made me feel like the most beautiful woman on the planet. Like I could have been wearing a potato sack and holding a car battery instead of a bouquet and he still would have looked at me that way. Well, maybe a little confused…”

Groom: “The food!”

Whats next as a married couple?!

Buying a home together and fighting over the renovations.

Advice to couples getting married:

“If possible, keep your wedding small! It was important to us that our wedding felt warm, intimate and inclusive. We’ve been to weddings where people felt alienated or there was no sense of cohesion. For the sixty-five guests who attended ours, we were able to spend quality time with each and every one of them. And there was so much mingling between families and friends. We’re still hearing about all the new bonds that formed that day, which is pretty awesome!”
